The floating city , the name itself says makes you think of Venice . It is the city built on water. Venice is a small and last bit of Italian mainland. The bus trip from Treviso airport to Piazzle Roma is the beginning of the experiences to Venice. It is a one hour journey towards the end of the journey you will start getting the feel of Venice , that you might have only seen in pictures. Once you land at the main bus station in Piazzale Roma, you are in the 'Venice' . There are not so many options to taravel around in Venice other than water taxis and 'by foot'. But once you step in Venice you wont feel like taking any sort of transportation other than your feet.

It is not a lot of distance to cover to see around in Venice. The google maps are well updated these days so you can easily find the bridges connecting two buildings. Basically Venice has seven major towns San Marco,San Polo, Castello, Cannaregio, San Croce, Dorsoduro, Giudecca. Each place is having its own beauty. San Marco is the most central part of Venice, it is indeed the most liveliest busiest town even at nights. This town stretches from St. Mark's Square Basilica to the Accademicia bridge and you have a lot of boat stops also. Venice's most of the iconic monuments are also here. Castello is mostly the residential place where there are lot of beautiful churches. Cannerigio is the northern most district in which is having the most beautiful canals along its length. It has some of the typical Venician restaurants also. San Croce is more quiet and more residential. Here you can experience the real Venice away from the touristy places. San Polo is again a place where you shouldn't skip . it has the famous Rialto bridge . The sunset view from Rialto bridge is one of the bucket list in most if traveler's life. Dorsoduro is again a beautiful town which has some beautiful bars and restaurants and good homestays and is good for a budget friendly pocket. We have taken a small homestay on the banks on the Grand Canal in Dorsoduro, the view from this place was amazing . Once you get a shower and get rid of your travel tiredness you should start your Venician exploring. You can just take a walk all around the city . It will never hurt your legs , since your eyes and mind will fully thinking about the beauty of Venice.

There are a lot of places to visit in Venice. The beautiful San Marks Basilica , Venice's best-known church . It has a very rich architectural beauty. It is in the St Marks Square , the evenings here are very beautiful, the mild breeze and light sun and the beauty of the place adds to it. The water ride through grand canal is the one that one should never miss , you can either take a water taxi (private or public). Sweeping through the heart of Venice in a giant reverse S curve, the Grand Canal is the principal boulevard through the city, connecting Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, and the arrival points of the rail station and bridge from the mainland . The Rialto bridge, the only bridge across Grand Canal and the sunset from there. The sides of the Rialto bridge is the Shopping paradise and busy food paradise. These are some of the famous places and while you are walking around the street you can find so many other places. Like the Chapels , fine arts museum etc. The Gondola rides in Venice is one of the other experience. Though they are a bit costly for budget friendly travels , they indeed an additional experience to take from Venice. All these places on foot can be easily covered in a weekend. When you are travelling back from Venice you will never feel like going back from the beauty and experience it provides you.

Tips while travelling to Venice.

  1. Always great to walk around the city and have local connection so you can use google Maps.

  2. Try to stay nearer to the center of the city , so you can walk around all the major attractions. Avoid staying in mainland if you want to enjoy Venice

  3. A Venice trip is never complete with a water ride , if you want a budget friendly trip go for the public transportation in Venice rather than the costly Gondolas and water taxis.

  4. Marco Polo is the nearest airport , if not there is Treviso Airport which is a bit far but can easily reach Venice with shuttle buses which runs almost all the day.
