The majestic Alps,beautiful lakes,small villages, posh cities, proud castles, sweet Lindts, Green and white farmland with lots of cows.... Yes , I am talking about the heaven in the this world Switzerland!! Switzerland is blessed with everything a country needs. This country is financially stable with one of the best standards of living in the world.
So this weekend we have planned our journey to land of Alps . We have traveled from Copenhagen on a Friday night and reached Zurich . Though we reached late , the transportation in whole Swiss is quite good , so we took the train from Airport to hotel we have booked for this weekend. We have taken stay at ibis Hotel . There was a tram station just a minute walk from this hotel so transportation was very simple. There are ticket booths in every station so getting a ticket is also not a problem and they accept cards also. We had a good sleep on Friday night and woke up fresh on Saturday.
That Saturday was one of the beautiful day in my life, it was the day when my eyes got some of the amazing shots. Seeing around Swiss on two days is impossible , but with the limited time we have , we got a list of top places to visit . We planned to go straight to Lucerne , one of the beautiful town in Switzerland.
This is the place from which you can go to all the attractions in Swiss. If you step out of the Central station you can see the beauty. Just in front you have Kapellbrucke, it is a wooden bridge. There is a carnival just outside. Some other major places include Lion Monument, swiss museum etc. Our next destination was Titlis mountain. To reach Titlis you have to take a train from Lucerne to Engleberg station (direct) and then from there is a cable car to the top of the mountain. The train journeys in Swiss are very beautiful , all the train routes are surrounded with Green Farms , White icy Alps and clear blue sky. We had reached Engleberg station in one hour . From mountain base we have taken a cable car up to the mountain. The view which you get when you are sitting inside is too mesmerizing.
Once we reach o top of the mountain 3238 meters above the sea level , its all icy icy white , though it was a summer day it was very cold on top (0 degree Celsius).
If you are from India m there are so many places in Titlis that you might have already seen. Many Indian movies are shot there and they have even kept Indian movie stars photos and frames. Also you will get very good Indian food on top of Titlis. ;)
After enjoying the site from above , we have decided to climb down the mountain and head towards another place, as we have only very ,limited time . The train routes in Swiss are quite famous like the Golden Pass route, The Interlaken , The Glacier route etc. All of them are very beautiful routes as described by other travelers around the world . It was tough time to decide which pass to take afternoon. After all thoughts we end up in taking the Golden Pass route, The Golden Pass train whisks you along the glistening waters of Lake Geneva and through picturesque mountain towns like Gstaad and Interlaken in the heart of Switzerland. Since it was typical summer day in Switzerland , we had sunlight till 9 :00PM at night , so we were able to enjoy the whole route. :)
After that at night we came back to Lucerne . From Lucerne there is train straight to Zurich. We decided to see a bit of nightlife in Zurich.
We had roamed around Zurich, you can do this by both walking and by using tram service. You can get a day pass and use it any number of times. We reached hotel around 11:00PM and started thinking about where to go the next day , the places to visit in Switzerland is endless . After long thinking and discussions , also considering the time constrain we are having we have planned to go to Rhine falls and Lake Zurich the next day.
Sunday morning we woke up with so much of anxiety to explore the rest of the places that we have planned. Morning we planned to go to the Rhine falls , one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland. We went to Zurich HBF and inquired about how to reach Rhine Falls . The officials told us that , there are trains from Zurich but its a long journey . But in Switzerland if you get a chance to be on train the whole day, it wont be a waste , since all the train routes in Swiss go through beautiful locations. The trains in Swiss are having large clear glass window , so you can do sight seeing from the train itself. So even though the journeys are long , you will never fell asleep and make sure to get the window seat ;).
After the long beautiful train journey, we reached Rhine falls . Now no words to say. This water falls is so majestic you can clearly say this is the King of all the waterfalls in Switzerland. The rushing waters and beautiful weather has added to the beauty .
After enjoying the beautiful half day in Rhine Falls , we decided to take train to Lake Zurich.It is a very beautiful lake from where you can see the views of Alps and on the other side you can see cities and sometimes country side.
You can also take boat trips across Lake Zurich and can see around the city. We had to make it short since we had a flight back to Copenhagen on Sunday night. After the beautiful lake we took a train back to Zurich main station. It was already evening , and we had some more time to spend in Switzerland so we decided to go around Zurich city and do some shopping ;). After all that we had taken a train direct to airport . By 7 in the evening we bid bye to the most beautiful city , saying we part to meet again!
Tips for travelling to Switzerland
Make sure you have some Swiss currency with you , but not more so that you can do street shopping and try street foods
If you have a good internet connection in your phone then you can easily travel around using google Maps
You can either book your tickets early or you can take it from the train stations. If you booking it early there are chances that you can get some discounts , as travelling out of Zurich is very costly.
